February 26
Unresolved Issues - What are those issues and questions that you can't find answers to and cannot seem to be able to let go of? We'll discuss ways that we have found answers or ways to help us let go. |
March 25
What Happened to the Old Me and Who Am I Now? - The loss of a child can affect our personalities. We will discuss ways we have changed since our children died and discuss whether these changes are permanent or just a temporary part of the grieving process. |
April 22
Special Gardens, Healing Places/Memory Plant - Many parents find solace in a garden, or a place dedicated to their child. We'll talk about these places and why they bring us comfort. If you would like to participate in the plant exchange, bring a plant labeled with your child's name to share and bring home someone else's child's plant. Perennials are best so that we can enjoy them for years to come. |
May 27
Where Am I Now In My Grief Journey? There are many levels of grief. New - raw grief; Not So New – the reality of grief; Maturing – incorporating grief into your life. We will discuss the levels of grief and where do you think you fit now. |
June 24
Ask It Basket - Write down a question you would like to have answered, place it in the basket, pass and pick a card from the basket and answer the question. |
July 22
The Day My Child Was Born - Discuss the events when your child was brought into the world. You may bring in baby pictures of your child if you wish. |
August 26
Dreams And Unusual Happenings - Many bereaved parents believe they receive signs from their child. The meeting allows those individuals time to discuss their experience. |
September 23
Picture Night - Please bring a favorite photo (or 2) of your child, and we will share stories about our children's lives and personalities. |
October 28
The Day My Child Died - If you feel comfortable, you may share with the group the details surrounding your child's death. Medical students often come this month to listen and learn. We have found this to be a very positive (but difficult) experience for all. |
November 25
What Can I Be Thankful For? At this time of year it may be difficult for us to find reasons to be thankful. How can we find gratitude when the one we love is gone? |
December 23
Getting Through The Holidays - Ways to cope with the difficult holiday season are discussed. There are numerous ideas available that may help you deal with a particular holiday issue. Some things may not work for you but an idea may be presented that will help. |
